Serving the Comox Valley

We say the art of veterinary medicine is the people. We mean you.

The team is still working on a critical patient. You step out to give the family the update the veterinarian asked you to share, and you tell them Biscuit has the blanket from home tucked around her, just like they said she likes. Then you step back in to help. Caring for the patient, the family and the team, all at once: that is what a great Patient Care Coordinator makes possible.

In a lot of hospitals, continuing education is for the vets and techs. Here, it is for you too. We are building a hospital where the people providing care are supported, heard and always learning.

Who we are looking for

The best care is created together.

You love helping animals and the people who love them, in equal measure. You notice the small things, build trust quickly, and see every case as a chance to learn. This role has as much client contact as patient care, and both halves matter equally.

You will care for animals who are painful, frightened or seriously ill, and you will be there for euthanasia and grief. The work is physical, and priorities change quickly. You will have training, coaching and a team that steps in, and we talk hard cases through together. When a conversation crosses a line, you will not be handling it alone.

We are looking for hands-on experience with safe handling, assisting under clinical direction, and hospital hygiene. A VA certificate or emergency experience is a real asset, but we look at your actual skills, not just a credential.

The offer

Meaningful work, thoughtfully supported.

The role

  • Gather histories and listen for what the family is most worried about
  • Support exams, diagnostics and procedures under RVT and veterinarian direction
  • Provide safe, low-stress handling and patient comfort
  • Notice changes in a patient and raise them right away
  • Carry questions and updates between families and the team
  • Clean, disinfect and restock between patients
  • Support discharge, and make sure the family’s original question was answered

What we offer

  • $22–$26 per hour, based on experience and skills
  • Health and dental benefits
  • $500 annual continuing education allowance and a paid CE day
  • Uniforms provided
  • Fewer, longer shifts, so more full days off

Pausing to ask when you are unsure is a skill we value.

As the after-hours hospital, we rotate evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Overnight care for patients staying with us is part of this role. If you love overnights, tell us, because we would like those shifts to go to the people who want them.

The art of veterinary medicine

Veterinary medicine is grounded in science — but it is also an art.

  • The eye to notice a small change before it becomes a big one.
  • The patience to let a frightened patient set the pace.
  • The memory to carry a family’s question all the way to discharge.
  • The humility to pause and ask.
Canvas is the space. Our people create what it becomes.
